Nine Favorite Things
Happy Sunday, everyone! I returned home from New York Monday night, and here I am today, already heading back into the city. I know it’s been a lot of back-and-forth recently, but I really am loving all this travel.
I’m looking forward to this week’s trip into the city. I’m in town for multiple work events, but most excitedly – I’m speaking on my first panel. I’ll share more next week, and fill you in on how it all went! I’m nervous, but I’m really looking forward to the experience!
My time last week in the city was focused more on Fashion Week, which I, of course, love. I find so much inspiration in fashion and design. It’s a big part of the business side of what I do. It’s such a pinch-me moment that I’ve now spent multiple Fashion Weeks in New York and even attended some of my dream shows. Mixing my worlds is such a dream. I hope to continue doing and sharing more of it. Hopefully, someday, we’ll get a home HBH line launched!
Anyway, I got home Monday night and worked in the kitchen for the remainder of the week. I’m excited to share all my fall recipes, and I’ll soon start sharing Halloween drinks too. I need to get working on those, October is sneaking up on us so fast!
We are only two months out from the release of the new cookbook, Quick and Cozy. I’m so excited, but wow, am I nervous too. It’s been a while since our last cookbook, and this one truly is my favorite yet! I hope you’ll all love it as much as I do. I’m looking forward to finally sharing the Book Tour details with you next week. I can’t wait for you to see what we’ve planned!
Below, I have so many fall things to share. Plus, I’ve got all the photos from our recent Snif photoshoot and the rest of my New York trip too!
Lastly, your incredible support and excitement over our Home Chef collaboration have been amazing. Everyone involved worked so hard on these recipes weโve created for you all. This is the last week of this year’s collaboration. Please share your creations with me on social media, email, or wherever you feel most comfortable. I love seeing you create these recipes with your families!

Have the best last Sunday of summer! If youโre in the mood for fall, I’ll be sharing my favorite fall recipes in our annual Best-Of-Fall recipes post this week! This list of popular fall recipes builds more each season!
lovingโฆ
. Loving that Tory stepped into more of an edgy vibe, bringing back classics and reinventing. The show also looked amazingly beautiful. It was held at the Domino Sugar building in Brooklyn.cozying up withโฆthe cozy cocoon fringed throw. I personally love the yellow maze, blue, raspberry, and neutral colors. Ok, I guess I mostly love them all!
travel… .ย I definitely need to stay at The Madrona Hotelย in Healdsburg, CA. I feel like this place would be so pretty for a fall weekend getaway!ย
Everything in my cart (low)โฆfirst, some fall jackets. These hover just under the $300 mark and are great investment pieces for fall and winter. I’m loving this waxed jacket from Free People. The muted orange color is cute for a pop of moody fall color. If you’re more of a neutral girl, thisย double-breasted wool jacket from & Other Stories is great! And then this is a great leather cropped jacket from Zara.
I found this cozy fleece zip-up hoodie on J.Crew, and I think I need it for the season. Or maybe thisย cable stitch crewneck. Both are so cute and comfy-looking.
You will see below that brown is trending for fall. Zara, of course, has the perfectย brown halter dress. It’s so cute for a fall wedding. You could pair the dress with pumps or suede boots.
H&M knits never disappoint. I love this Knit Bodycon Dress.ย And you can never go wrong with a good pair of dark wash jeans; these H&M barrel high-rise jeans are so good.
loving… . Love this home so much. So well designed and styled.
listening toโฆ
.dreaming of going to…El Palace Barcelona. Some of my family is there. They’re raving about how beautiful it is and all of the history it has!
lovingโฆthis cutest little 3-pack pumpkin shaped candle set. I’m so excited for fall and Halloween decor – so much fun!
something fun…Halloween Town, OF COURSE, but what Twitches? And my brother’s favorites, Brink and Johnny Sunami? Oh, and Zenon. They’re all so good! What was your favorite? Halloween Town always wins for me, but I’m a sucker for High School Musical too. But I love them all.
. Do you remember these?everything in my cart (beauty)โฆnothing major on the beauty front this week except my discovery of Tallow for the skin. Last week, I mentioned how the skin on my face is reacting to something in the air around me at home. The tallow balmย fromย Touch of Tallow is the only product that has helped relieve the irritation.
Their tallow comes from 100% grass-fed, grass-finished, pasture-raised, humanely raised beef or sheep. It’s full of essential vitamins, ultra moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and has natural anti-aging benefits. I’m still learning all the benefits of tallow, but so far, I love it on my skin.
Then there’s the new Cult Gaiaย eau de parfum. This just launched, and it’s such a beautiful scent. I have the Zan scent, which is so cozy for fall, with cardamom and warm cedarwood. Itย has a very subtle spice and an earthy soul.
watchingโฆremember when she made those Snickers bars from my cookbook!? So fun!
. Ok. I Love it. Also, do youreadingโฆ
.everything in my cart (high)โฆit is taking everything in me not to order the new Bottega Veneta andiamo medium intrecciato suede tote. Love this style and brown shade.
I need to orderย thisย two-piece cashmere set from Reformation for my mom,ย and we both need this textured cashmereย hoodieโit looks so cozy!
orderedโฆthe newest KitchenAid exclusive stand mixer from Crate and Barrel. I see a giveaway coming very soon. Keep your eyes peeled on Instagram.
Shoppingโฆthe Jeremiah Brent x Crate Kids collection. Oh my gosh, it’s so cute. I would have loved this collection growing up. Honestly, I’d love it now. I want to get Oslo this Reminiscent Embroidered Stripe Quilt and these Storybook Sheets.
I’m so excited that the new apple cider candle is here. We sold out in less than 24 hours! I am in awe! I never thought we’d sell out in less than a day, but wow!
We did it! Thank you so much for your incredible support. I love this close-knit HBH family so much!
I’m happy to see the excitement for this candle. We worked for close to a year developing this scent, and it really does embody fall in the most magical way. I have the 4-wick burning now, and it’s brought me so much happiness.
The regular and small sizes are sold out, but there are a few XL candles left! Get one now before they’re gone!
*I just found out they are taking preorders for a restock!
I’m sharing all the photos I haven’t gotten to share yet. I LOVED every second of this shoot in upstate New York at Weed’s Family Orchard. It was certainly a dream come true for me.
And don’t forget, you can still order your Pumpkin Smash candles here.

It would be really nice and much more interesting if you went to different restaurants each time you’re in NYC and shared your experiences. I mean, come on……we have heard about The Polo Bar ad nauseum for years. Branch out and try something different! You’re in NYC for goodness sake.
Great recipes this week! In one of these weeks recipes you mentioned that it took you a long time to develop it, about a week long. Iโm so curious about your process! If a week is a long time to perfect a new recipe, how long does it typically take you to create something new? Do you use a similar pre existing recipe of yours as a starting point? Love all the fashion and candle content but still would love to know more about how you develop so many amazing recipes so frequently!
Happy Sunday, Tieghan, Gerard Fam, and HBH Team! Love the content this week (as every week)! So my daughter is obsessed with 90s Disney, and one movie I replay every fall is Momโs Got a Date With a Vampire. Very, very cute, funny, and charming. And I agree you canโt miss Halloweentown! I would absolutely love to see an HBH home line come to fruition, so I really hope that becomes reality! Have a wonderful week and hopefully we will see you in the Chicago area for the cookbook launch!
Hi Jen,
Thanks for reading today, as always:) Right?! Halloweentown is always a goodie, thanks for sharing your daughter’s favorite too! I hope you had a great Sunday and enjoy the week ahead! xT
Gorgeous apple orchard photos! Itโs been fun watching you and your business grow! Congratulations on all your accomplishments.
Hi Riley,
Thank you so much for your thoughtful message:) I appreciate you following along! Have a great week! xT
Wow, so many armchair experts making comments this morning! ๐ Everyone who has a negative, fussy or grumpy comment should be required to submit photos of their last creative project so we can all critique and comment! It’ll be fun.
Tieghan, thank you for putting out such great content, week after week!
Thanks so much for reading today, Katie!! Hope you are off to a great Sunday, thanks for being here! xT
Tieghan, you are absolutely gorgeous in those stunning dresses! The whole shoot is beautiful, the orchard, the clothes, the baskets of apples, all of it, amazing! It makes me want to get in the kitchen and bake an old fashioned apple crumb pie! Thank, as always, for all the great content! You are incredibly talented!
Hi Paula,
Happy Sunday and thanks for reading today! The shoot really was so special, glad you enjoyed the photos and the apple vibes! Thanks for your thoughtful message:) xT
Good gollie Miss Mollie…I can’t hold back…what are all these ridiculous comments regarding the photo shoot, type of apples used, etc. For all of you negative people commenting out there, go to another site that you might make you happier. Not sure you will find it, think you just enjoy ragging on everything. Shape up!!! Enjoy life.
Have to say, you look stunning in that apple green dress…the photos are absolutely gorgeous of you. From one former Clevelander to another. Keep up the good work. Love your posts and look forward to them every day….!
Thanks so much, Nancy!! I appreciate your kind message and thanks for reading today and every day! Happy Sunday! xT
Maybe I am missing something but for goodness sake…this is just a candle. I really don’t understand all the dramatic fashion photos. It is clear you are aspiring to develop a brand that is beginning to lean more toward fashion and perhaps lifestyle rather than cooking/baking/recipe development. Certainly that is fine…everyone should aspire to grow and evolve. I just feel the over the top fashion shoot for a candle is a bit extreme.
Still ove checking the recipes . Please keep those coming.
Hey Nancy! I just love these shoots and have so much fun with them. I love fashion but I love to cook and share recipes too. I am combining my two worlds together! Itโs brought me so much joy and new ideas too! Hope this makes sense. Have a great week and happy fall! xxT
Absolutely love, love, love the two ladder photos! That poufy dress on top of the ladder? Just Wow! What a gorgeous photo shoot. Also, that jeans and sweater look is so good on you. Thanks for another lovely Sunday post, I always look forward to reading your Nine Favourite Things.
Hi Tanja,
Thank you so much for your kind message:) The photo shoot was so much fun, especially wearing the dresses! Thanks for reading today! I hope you have the best Sunday! xT
How is this your first panel? I can think of two just this year – Austin and Cannes. Oh, and the Benny/Pasta Queen thingโฆ plus werenโt you on a panel at the South Beach Food & Wine festival last year?
The candle has honeycrisp apple notes. Why didn’t they use honeycrisp apples in the shoot?Using granny smith or golden delicious is an odd choice.
I thought this was so strange as well. They could have just said the candle has notes of apple, and used any variety, or kept the Honeycrisp note, and actually used Honeycrisps in the promos. It seems especially odd because the orchard where they did the shoot grows Honeycrisp apples, and some of the trees in the background in a couple shots have red/bi-colored apples. I know there are a lot of apple varieties grown in the US, but it seems hard to believe no one in this shoot (and it looked like there were at least a dozen on site) thought to point out the discrepancy.๐ And if someone did and it was ignored, that seems an even stranger choice. I mean, hello, Iโm sure the grower could have (and maybe did) point it out!๐๐คฃ I donโt know, it sort of falls in line with discrepancies on the HBH website/IG lately of saying one thing and doing another, so maybe I shouldnโt be too surprised here.
It is probably because Honeycrisp apples are not ready to harvest until mid-September at the earliest. They reach peak color and flavor by early October. I doubt using unripe Honeycrisp apples had any true visual appeal. Coupled with the fact that orchards probably do not want to harvest unripe apples that would just go to waste…even if purchased for the photoshoot. Since the photoshoot was done weeks prior to Honeycrisp harvest there obviously was going to be a lack of that variety. Personally, I found the photoshoot photos very well-done and full of visual appeal. And since they sold out of the candles in less than 24 hrs it obviously had no effect on consumer appeal.
Looks like the comment that was here before about waste got deleted. These people don’t care about waste! Smashed apples, smashed donuts, flying across the country for meetings that could have been zooms. But these apples are the right color so who cares?
Honeycrisp are actually one of the first varieties to be harvest, usually in early/mid-August! (and Iโm not adding that to be snarky, I promise!:) ) Iโve worked in the fresh produce industry for two decades and was just surprised to see Tiegen, as a home chef thatโs aiming to teach people about food, seeming to be ok with possibly adding to the consumer confusion by using a different variety in the shoot than the one mentioned in the candle notes in all the promos. There are so many apple varieties that are commercially grown, and it can already be hard to tell them apart for most consumers. But youโre absolutely right in that the shoot may have been done before the Honeys were ripe (I canโt remember when they took the photos). Just seems strange that there was a lot of mention of how much time and effort that went into the project for a detail like this to be overlooked.
This is not a hill Iโm trying to die on lol, I (hopefully obviously) just have a lot of passion for my work! I was excited to see a new apple candle coming out and was bummed by some aspects of the execution, and wanted to add my (very lengthy) comments as feedback.
Hey Caitlin! We used the apples we had access to at the shoot location. Have the best week ahead and happy fall! xxT
I think I speak for everyone when I say we need all the details/links for the gorgeous dresses in the candle promo! โฃ๏ธ
Thanks so much, Pamela:) Unfortunately, they are all vintage so I don’t have any links. So sorry! xx
Most of the dresses are actually from 2017/2018 lines, which isnโt considered vintage.
Even if not available to purchase, Iโm sure your readers would still like to know more about them which is why they would take the time to ask about them. I truly donโt understand, youโre trying to pivot to fashion but canโt even provide answers when someone asks about that.
Not one designer or collection you could share? For any single piece? Such a love of fashion…
Hey, PJ!
You can do a reverse image search to find the designers of the gorgeous dresses. Oscar del la Renta 2018, Elie Saab resort 2017, etc. While they are older collections, and no longer available, they are not truly vintage. Sometimes you can find older collections on designer resale sites. How fun to be able to wear all these borrowed beauties, right?
Ooohhhhh Thanks so much, Scarlett!!!
Another great post! Enjoyed it. Bet your apple candle is gorgeous just like you. Food photos are amazing.
Thank you very much, Ellen:) I appreciate you being here! Have a great Sunday! xT
Love the long Burgundy leather skirt with matching jacket in the photo above you are wearing…details please…thx..you have such great fashion sense…keep up the good work..
